Once again I find myself behind the eight-ball in releasing the latest post of the Musings of a Normal Midwestern Guy. Work, of course, is always a thing that gets in the way of bringing all my loyal readers what they really want; the spot-on insights, and rants of this guy from Michigan, but lately other things are getting in the way. We are coming up on the baseball season, both for my middle school coaching gig and the summer baseball where I’m on the Board of Directors. Both of these are consuming and increasing amount of time. I will endeavor to rearrange my time so I can keep giving you all the opinions, fun and just plain weirdness you have come to expect from me.
As I get things figured out, please enjoy these posts from Substack authors I really enjoy and find incredible valuable.
The first three articles are by Melanie Phillips, she is a great writer, a real writer, that posts about the ongoing situation in Israel and the plight of Jews in the Western world. If these are behind a paywall please forgive me, but she is really worth following.
Melanie’s first post is about visiting some of the sites from the October 7, massacre and giving us a few of the stories that have not been even mentioned in the West, stories that would have been featured on 60 Minutes if this had happened in America. It is a very emotional post but she mentions that there is an undercurrent of hope in Israel.
The second post is about the discovery of the Hamas data center under the UNRWA headquarters in Gaza City that I wrote about in my last post. She does a much better job of covering it.
The third post is about the continuing efforts in the West, the UK and the US in particular, to demonize Israel and Jews in general.
The next post of by Konstantin Kisin, a writer born in Russia, who now is one of the more important voices in the anti-woke, anti-insanity world. In fact this post is about our journey from a (mostly) rational society, where debate and public manners were more important than winning, to a society where is someone doesn’t agree with you just call them a Nazi and you win.
The second post is a short examination of why Communism was/is worse than Fascism. It is a very important little post packed with interesting points and begs a much larger discussion.
